Right on schedule, the Undertones podcast series is back again. So for the sake of all that's holy, tell a friend! This week we continue our expedition into our deep crates filled with "dusty" classics as Emeyesi drops a slick set of Disco/Club Classic joints. There's a lot of different dance music flavors in this edition, but it's all fun, and all funky. There's even some mixing going on, and only a tiny amount of technical issues compared to El Keter's episode from a fortnight ago. We hope you enjoy it. And we hope you've enjoyed not only our return to podcasting, but our first attempts at podcast episodes styled after our Dusty Grooves radio show, rather than our Urban Alternatives radio show. If you're missing the new cutting edge sounds you're used to, don't worry, we'll be keeping those sorts of episodes in the podcast rotation, but now you can enjoy a blast from the past interspersed here and there as well.

Enjoy this week's episode, right now!

Like I said at the end of the last episode, we're trying to keep Undertones on a new bi-weekly schedule. So you should expect a new episode in a couple of weeks. You should also expect us to branch out and mix it up, with newer stuff, special "dusty" episodes, and whatever else we feel like doing.

I'm not sure who'll be handing in the next episode of Undertones, or what the theme or vibe might be, so I guess it'll be a surprise for all of us?

Holy shit it's been a long time since we uploaded a new podcast! And what do we do when we finally upload a new podcast? We make it out of a bunch of music that's old as hell! Yeah, we've been meaning to get the podcasting back on track for months now, and we've received your comments and requests about the podcasts. So, finally, El Keter and Emeyesi got together and knocked out a couple new episodes of our Undertones podcast series. The only thing is, they're dusty episodes! That's right, we dug in the crates and delivered a couple of podcasts featuring the sort of old school vinyl treats we usually play on our Dusty Grooves radio program every Monday on 90.7 FM WTCC here in Springfield.

The first of the new "dusty" podcasts comes courtesy of Imageyenation head honcho El Keter ( who, if that picture is any indication, was very sleepy when he recorded this ) and features a whole host of inspirational Soul and Funk jams from the 1970's. Admittedly, it sort of sounds like ass ( particularly the talking parts ), because we were having some unexpected problems with the mixer and we hadn't recorded a podcast in months, but I'm sure we'll get the problems ironed out as we continue to record new episodes.

Before you ask, no all our new podcasts won't be "dusty," we're still gonna do plenty of episodes featuring new and exciting music, but expect the "dusty" episodes to slip into rotation every now and then as the months flip past.

Playlist --

1. Lou Donaldson "If There's a Hell Below, We're All Gonna Go" Blue Note
2. The New Birth "Blind Man" Buddah
3. Johnny Taylor "I Am Somebody ( Pt. 1 & 2 )" Stax
4. Von Ryan's Express "Belief" MGM
5. Jerry Butler "You Can Fly" Mercury
6. Ohio Players "Pain" Westbound
7. Billy Preston "Heart Full Of Sorrow" A&M
8. Brooklyn Bridge "Inside Out, Upside Down" Buddah

Background Sounds --

1. Grover Washington Jr. "Knucklehead" Kudu
2. Herbie Mann "Memphis Underground" Atlantic
3. Motherlode "Soft Shell" Buddah

With the relaunch of Undertones we're also starting a new bi-weekly schedule for the podcasts. This is to keep our workload down and to give more people an opportunity to download any given episode.

So, expect us back in two weeks, with another new episode of Undertones courtesy of Emeyesi, who'll be hitting you with a bunch of old Disco and Club Classics.
