Our homies from the Strange Fruit Project have been nominated for BBC Radio's Worldwide Song of the Year 2004 ( part of the Gilles Peterson Worldwide Music Awards ) for their song "All The Way," which you should know was a huge hit with us on the Urban Alternative show last year.

To vote just click this link and look for "The Strange Project – 'All The Way' (Black Sun)" ( sic ) on the list between Dimlite and Danny Breaks. There's a lot of other dope shit nominated too so don't forget that you can vote for two songs. And feel free to vote for the other awards while you're there.

In the aftermath of the big server move my existence has been a total mess and I know that's made posting 'round these parts pretty scant. But rest assured that I've been working on a lot of stuff ( including a possible site overhaul featuring a new content delivery system ) and folks are still forwarding me a bunch of cool bits & pieces. So in the spirit of keepin' it movin' I present, video madness...

First up we have the new clip from The Streets for "Blinded By The Light." The promo blurb from Vice touts it as "easily the best Streets video ever, featuring a dashing Mike Skinner and starring cocaine, E, oral sex, and bloody, bloody violence" and claims it's been "banned everywhere in the world except on your computer screen." I haven't had the chance to peep it myself, but "Blinded By The Light" is my favorite cut from 'A Grand Don't Come For Free' so it certainly deserves an accompanying video as cool as that makes this one sound.

Check it out for yourself...

Then we've got a new joint called "Roll Call" from the king of crunk Lil' Jon featuring original n***a with attitude Ice Cube from Jon's new 'Crunk Juice' record. I don't know if the bedreaded pimp cup carrier shouts "WHUT?!?!?", "OKAY?!?!" or "YEEE-YEAH-YUH!!!!" at all on this song, but if his track record is any indication then I'm sure he does and I'm sure it's as entertaining as it always is.

Check it out...

And hopefully I'll have some more words ( like a plethora of record reviews and some more goodies ) posted to go along with all these magical moving pictures real soon.

The Imageyenation/Urban Alternative crew invites all you emcees out there to participate in the Urban Alternative Show song contest!

I've uploaded a short track I put together which you can download ( right click and "save as" ). What we want you to do is write and record a drop/theme song of sorts to this beat about The Urban Alternative Crew and our Urban Alternatives radio show. We will play the best ones on our radio show and our absolute favorite will be the intro to our next mix-tape.

When you're done with your track just encode it as a 128kbps mp3, upload it somewhere on the interweb and then forward us a link.

We look forward to hearing from you.

It all started around a quarter after six tonight when I got the "breaking news" e-mail from that bastion of internet hip-hop rumors AllHipHop.

Then came a flood of phone calls, text messages, and instant messenger messages from just about everybody I know.

But there was still some doubt floating around.

Was it all a rumor?

Or was Ol' Dirty Bastard really dead?

Well unfortunately MTV News is insisting that the information are true... Wu Tang Clan emcee Ol' Dirty Bastard died while working in a New York recording studio Saturday afternoon.

The cause of death is still unknown.

He would have turned 36 this Monday.

I think Cereffusion summed up the situation best earlier tonight when he said "You know this world is fucked up when Dick Cheney doesn't die but ODB does."

Erstwhile rapper, Jesus fanatic, notorious dumbass and generally corky-lookin' motherfucker Mase says God "don't have no problem with you blingin'" in defense of his own wealthy lifestyle during a recent interview with the Associated Press.

The former Murda Mase went on to describe his God as a rich businessman with pimp-like taste -- "His gates are pearly, his house is about 10 stadiums big, the streets are gold - you do the budget on that kind of place" -- who doesn't mind rich folks, so long as they pay him royalties -- "God don't have no problem with you being rich, as long as he can get a dime off a dollar. Any dude you get rich and he can't get you a dime off a dollar, that's a stingy dude. If I get you rich, and you can't give me a dime off the dollar I gave you, I wouldn't fool with you."

Sean "P-Diddy" Combs, the owner of Mase's record label and apparent object of his prayers, could not be reached for comment on how he feels about his protege worshipping him as the Almighty.

Mase -- a part-time Christian minister who doesn't seem to be aware of the many places in the Old Testament where idolatry is forbidden and adornment with certain jewelry was called into question... or the teachings of Jesus describing the difficulties a rich man might have in getting into heaven for that matter -- allegedly wore a large necklace and bracelet during the duration of the interview.
