The jamokes over at AllHipHop.com are reporting that hip-hop pioneers De La Soul have just signed to Matthew Knowles' ( yes, as in Beyonce's dad ) Sanctuary Urban Records Group and are set to release their new album 'The Grind Date' on September 28th.

The album is said to feature guest appearances from the likes of film-maker Spike Lee, hip-hop journalist & actor Bonz Malone, crooner Carl Thomas, Common, M.F. Doom, Sean Paul & Ghostface Killah and production is being handled by Jay Dee, Dave West, Madlib, and Jake1.

If that "Rock KoKaine Flow" mp3 featuring M.F. Doom that the Spitckicker site leaked last week was any indication of what the new record has in store I think we all just might want to mark September 28th down on our calendars.

The folks over at Allaboutjazz.com have a nice interview up with legendary jazz producer and CTI Records founder Creed Taylor discussing his days at the Impulse!, Verve & A&M labels, his work on the Getz & Gilberto classic "The Girl From Ipanema" and the golden years of Creed Taylor Incorporated.

Just days after being booted from the casino for dedicating her encore to Michael Moore, singer Linda Ronstadt has been invited back to the Alladin, and she just may be bringing Moore with her this time.

Though most Golden Age rappers have either fallen off or faded into obscurity Masta Ace has managed to change with the times, remain relevant and keep his skills sharp. Even as I type this the man's got two singles, "Make Some Noise" with Edo G & DJ Mekalek and the 9th Wonder produced "Good Ol' Love," bubbling on the underground and is set to release his fifth full length album in just a few days. So why is he about to retire?

That's right, AllHipHop is reporting that after the August 3rd release of his new record 'Long Hot Summer' Masta Ace is hanging up the mic in favor of working behind the scenes.

Ace really was one of the few true-school hip-hop artists still doing it and doing it right, so it's a sad day for the hip-hop community to hear that we'll soon be losing his contributions to the art-form.

While I'm sure we're all more then familiar with the classic 80's television series 'The Cosby Show' starring comedian Bill Cosby far fewer of us are aware that one of the man's first notable television credits was the 52-episode run of a program called 'The Bill Cosby Show' on NBC during the early 1970's.

The series also featured the work of noted jazz musician and future super-producer Quincy Jones, who served under Cosby as musical director.

Jones assembled a crack team of prominent jazz and funk artists -- Jimmy Smith, Milt Jackson, Les McCann, Monty Alexander, Ray Brown, Joe Sample, and Tom Scott among them -- to create a soundtrack and essentially left the tape recorder running during numerous informal jams. The sessions, however, ended up in the vault and were forgotten until over 30 years later when the "lost tapes" were rediscovered during an office move.

Quincy Jones Music and Concord Records are now releasing those sessions on two separate recordings.

'Quincy Jones & Bill Cosby: The Original Jam Sessions 1969' features the original vintage 1969 jam sessions featuring some of the heaviest musicians on the planet at the time in a fresh, loose & funk-loving format.

'Quincy Jones & Bill Cosby: The New Mixes, Vol. I' drops those old school recordings into the hands of a whole host of artists, DJs and producers from today's international world of Latin, jazz, electronica, lounge and hip-hop, including Mix Master Mike, John Digweed, Mario Caldato Jr., Herbert, Cornershop, Los Amigos Invisibles, Ursula 1000 and Soulive among others.

Any unheard recording sessions from that era featuring artists of the calibre we're talking about here has got to be worth a listen. So hit up http://www.hikkyburr.com for more info.

Aging country/pop singer Linda Ronstadt sparked a near-riot at a Las Vegas casino and was forcibly ejected from the premises after she dedicated her performance of the song "Desperado" to controversial film-maker Michael Moore.

If Jamaican police have their way noted dancehall artist Buju Banton could go "bye-bye" for putting the "boom" on a "batty boy head" alongside a mob of armed men in Kingston last month.

Don't believe me?
